Purchase Apple laptop computers for all your needs

The first real Apple laptop was the PowerBook 100 introduced in 1991. It replaced the much heavier and bulkier Macintosh Portable, which was more a portable computer and less a laptop. With a weigh-in of just 5.1 pounds, the PowerBook 100 rivals some of todays leading laptop manufacturers in regards to weight. The Apple G4 laptops became available in 2001 and remained a staple of the Mac notebook through various incarnations until Apple replaced it with the Intel Core Duo processors in 2006. There were never Apple G5 laptops due to hardware limitations of the chip.
The Apple laptop industry has exploded onto the scene since the introduction of the PowerBook 100. There are a number of reasons for this jump in sales:
1. The failure of competing operating systems to meet customer satisfaction in the same manner as Apple laptop computers
2. A demand for better security and higher quality hardware3. An easy to use interface that makes sense to all levels of computer users
There are a number of resources available to the consumer if its time for you to make the switch to Apple or replace your aging PowerBook. There are some great deals out there on Apple laptop computers if you know where to look.
MacMall is one of the best Apple laptop resellers. They have great deals on new laptops and even offer older ones at amazing prices.

Why Do You Need to Update Your PCs Drivers

Why Do You Need to Update Your PCs Drivers?:
When someone refers to drivers when talking about a computer, they mean device drivers. A device driver is a software program that lets the software programs interact with the hardware devices in or attached to your computer.  No matter how carefully the manufacturer tests the drivers for their hardware, sometimes  they will interact with another program on the computer and not work. Manufacturers will provide updates to correct any problems that users have encountered.
Manufacturers also release new versions of their drivers to add new or enhance old features of their hardware.  If you want to get the new features you will have to update the driver.
The most important thing to know is that device drivers are operating system specific.  That means that drivers for windows XP will not work on Vista nor will they work on Windows 7.
You can download drivers from the hardware manufacturer’s website, the operating system’s website or one of the websites that specialize in driver downloads.

Downloading and Installing Device Drivers

There are several different ways to download and install device drivers but the easiet is to use the Windows Device Manager.

Windows Device Manager

  • Select  Start->Control Panel-> Performance and maintenance->System, the System Properties window shown below
  • Then go to the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager Button.
  • In the Device Manger window you will see a list of different categories of hardware on your PC as shown below
  •  Identify the hardware that needs to be updated, and then double-click on it to open the device properties dialog box shown below for a graphics controller
  • In this dialog box, you will see device details like device driver version, manufacturers’ name, device model number, etc. Options such as Update Driver or Rollback Driver are also available to enable you to perform various PC maintenance tasks.
  • When you click the Update Driver button on the driver tab of the properties dialog box, the Hardware Update wizard will display. You can use this wizard to update your driver. To update the driver the wizard will ask you for the location from which you want to install the update from.

Summary

Updating device drivers is part of the routine maintenance you should perform on your PC if you want to get the best performance possible.

But how does a computer work? One way to better understand this is by knowing its different hardware and software components and their respective functions. Let us go ahead and take a look.
Hardware
  1. Case. This is where all parts reside. A desktop PC it comes in different sizes like micro tower, mini tower, mid tower, and full tower.
  2. Power Supply (PSU Power Supply Unit). This component supplies power to the rest of the computer parts. It comes with different wattage options to supply power to all devices in a computer.
  3. Motherboard. It acts as the backbone of a computer unit. This is where all components of the computer are connected.
  4. Processor (CPU or Central Processing Unit). It acts as the brain of a computer wherein it processes and performs commands and instructs the rest of the components to work their functions.
  5. Memory (RAM or Random Access Memory). It stores recently opened data, so that the CPU can easily access it. There are different types of RAM such as: SDRAM (Synchronous Dynamic RAM), RDRAM (Rambus Dynamic RAM), DDR RAM (Double Data Rate RAM)
  6. Video Card. This is what sends graphics to the monitor. Most video cards are built into the motherboard; however those that are into multimedia and games generally chose to upgrade their video cards to accommodate their graphic demands.
  7. Sound Card. This is what sends sound to the speakers or accepts sound from the microphone.

  9. Optical Drives. A device that uses a laser to read and/or write CDs and DVDs.
  10. Monitor. The computer screen that displays information, images, and characters generated and processed by the computer.
  11. Keyboard. Used to type commands into the computer.
  12. Mouse. A pointing device which allows computer users to perform different commands and operations. It generally consists of a left and right button that is used in different functions. It also can come with a scroll that is used in moving the page inside a window up, down, left and right.
  13. Speaker. Used to produce sounds from the computer.
Software
  1. Operating System. This is the main software that manages both applications and hardware of a computer.
  2. Word Processor. The application used in creating and typing documents
  3. Spreadsheets. It is used in working with financial data or anything related to numbers and used in creating graphs, and tables.
  4. Database. Used to store collection of data for organization purposes, easy access, and software programs.
  5. Presentation. Used to create moving or still graphics slides, formatted in a way that it can create a comprehensive layout of information.
  6. Communication Software. Generally tools that are used in receiving and sharing information from one computer to another. Some communication software uses the internet in communicating and sharing information with other computers.
  7. Internet browsers. Software that allows you to access websites and search/browse the web.
